Director:  Sara Field

 

Sara Field is the guard program director for Lake Hamilton School District, overseeing  High School and Junior High fall and winter guards.  She is a graduate of Henderson State University, where she performed as a color guard member for the Showband of Arkansas.

Mrs. Field’s guards at both Mena High School (AR) and Queen City High School (TX) have been recognized across the region for their consistent, award winning performances.  Her students have achieved awards such as; 2005 North Texas Color Guard Association Gold Medalist, 2005 Texas State Marching Band Silver Medalist, 2006 North Texas Color Guard Association Bronze Medalist, in addition to over 30 students selected as All-American Performers.

Mrs. Field is an active clinician and adjudicator.  She is the color guard camp director for the Steven Moss Academy, held each year at Ouachita Baptist University.  Additionally, Mrs. Field has directed camps for the University of Arkansas Monticello, and Howard Payne University.  Mrs. Field has served as the color guard caption for the Arkansas Showcase of Bands, Arkadelphia Music Games, Jessieville Marching Contest, and Queen City Marching Invitational, as well as being an active Equipment judge for numerous winter guard circuits.

Mrs. Field is a founding member of the Arkansas Visual Arts Association.  She currently serves as Vice-President and Contest Director.  Additional memberships include:  Mid America Performing Arts Judge’s Association, and the Texas Color Guard Circuit Judge’s Association.

 


 

 

Special Instructor:  Michael McGehee

 

Michael began his color guard training at Delta Brigade Drum and Bugle Corps from Little Rock, AR, and Americanos Drum and Bugle from Appleton, WI.  He then marched with Sundowners Winterguard from Madison, WI.  When he returned from the frigid north to Arkansas he marched in the Showband of Arkansas at Henderson State University.  He began teaching the guard at Henderson and also at Delta Brigade Drum and Bugle Corps.  He has taught guards in Arkansas and Texas including Henderson State, Magnolia High, Watson Chapel High, Bryant High, Arkadelphia High, Sheridan High, Conway High, Atlanta, TX, Canton, TX, Princeton, TX, just to name a few.  Most of his time has been spent teaching the guard at Lake Hamilton High School, where he has taught the guard since 1999.  He has also been an adjudicator of marching band competitions in Arkansas and Tennessee.

Michael is about to finish a degree in Theatre Arts with an emphasis in scenic design and a minor in Dance from Henderson State.  While at Henderson he has been very active with the theatre and dance programs designing several show and choreographing several pieces for the Henderson Dance Company, which he has also been a member of.  His design work has competed in state, regional, an national competitions thru the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival and United States Institute of Theatre Technicians.  Two of the pieces that he choreographed for the dance company have gone to the regional competitions of the Kennedy Center American College Dance Festival and one of the pieces made it to the finals at the regional in Florida.
